Different 

And the Same

If you met a person with green skin,

Would you accept her or him?

Would you care

if they had bright orange hair?

Would there strange hand and feet

effect what you see?

Would their weird

toes and fingers

make you top and wonder?

Would their large ears 

separate them from you

and your peers?

Would you give them 

strange looks as you looked

at their large thick lips?

Would their yellow eyes

take you by surprise?

Is this couple too different

to keep your interest?

Would you walk past them

without loving and accepting them?

As for me, they are symbols

for the differences of others.

Why can't we celebrate

our differences

and hold hands 

with other humans

in the human family?

Why do differences

separate us?

As for me I see that we

have O so much in common.

After all we are all human.
